Lydia House is a transitional home for women being released from jail and provides them with a safe place to live, learn and grow in Christ. The dream for Lydia House began in the hearts of the First Orlando Women’s Jail Ministry team in 2008. Each week, a team of ladies visits the 33rd Street Jail, where they minister to the women behind bars.
Over the years, they have watched with broken hearts as women are released with no place to go. More often than not, the women go back to living the same lifestyle they were living before their incarceration. Ultimately, they find themselves behind bars again.
Lydia House was created to help end this cycle of freedom and incarceration.
Mission Statement: Lydia House is a non-profit organization and a ministry of First Baptist Church of Orlando and Hope Church of Orlando. Our mission is to minister to women who were incarcerated, by providing shelter and a Faith-based program that teaches Biblical Life Principles. We build on the foundations that led them to eternal life found in Christ, create lasting change in their lives and bring glory to God.
Purpose Statement: To nurture and disciple women leading them to lasting change.
Vision Statement: Transforming the lives of women through God’s redeeming power, God’s lasting forgiveness and God’s unending love.
